Perfect Deed

Overview

Invoice Mailbox and PerfectDeed were SaaS startups offering donation, invoicing and payment solutions for small businesses and nonprofits with customizable invoicing, donation tracking, and payment processing tools. As the UX Lead, I was responsible for defining and executing the overall UX strategy, laying the foundation for usability, scalability, and design consistency across the product suite.

I worked closely with founders, developers, and stakeholders to align on goals, map user journeys, streamline critical workflows, and create a reusable design system.

The Challenge

• Diverse user base (from non-technical admins to finance pros) with varying needs.
• No design system, component library, or standardized visual patterns.
• Start-up pace with limited resourcing and fast-changing requirements.

My Role & Approach

As UX Lead, I owned the full end-to-end UX process:

Strategic Discovery

• Facilitated discovery sessions with founders, PMs, devs, and stakeholders
• Defined personas, mapped core journeys, and prioritized workflows
• Designed wireframes for critical use cases (invoice creation, donation processing, payment setup)

Workflow Design & UX Architecture

• Built a modular design system using Sketch libraries and symbol overrides.
• Standardized layout grids, buttons, forms, tables, alerts, and typography.
• Supported white-label customization while preserving UX consistency
• Delivered developer-friendly handoff files and guidance via user-stories and hi-fidelity designs

Results & Impact:

• Established the first comprehensive UX strategy for both platforms.
• Improved task clarity, onboarding, and accessibility for key flows.
• Enabled faster delivery through reusable components and shared UI patterns.
• Streamlined cross-functional collaboration between product, dev, and founders.
• Reduced friction in invoice and payment workflows for non-technical users.
